Bought car on eBay but seller did not state that it was an insurance write off

Dear Sir / Madam, I bought a Ford KA Luxury on eBay in April and found that they were a lot of mechanical faults which were not described by the seller on his eBay listing. I paid well over £500 to get everything right but the garage said the car was supposed to be off-road as it is unsafe to drive. I then called HPI trying to investigate further about the history of the car and only but then I found out that the car has been involved in an accident and registered by an insurance company as Category C Total Loss. I feel like I am a victim of this dishonest transaction and reported to eBay and Consumer Direct. I think it is illegal for the seller to withhold this information from me therefore I would like to seek for your advice or help and get all of my money back on this car. Thanking you for your time, Regards, Kitson

The problem is that you need to make your enquiries before you buy the car. That's why there is the vehicle data check which shows you the car's history. It will be difficult to recover your money because it comes under your responsibility to make those checks. Remember that there are lots of fraud that happens on eBay and although there are some protection offered by ebay, at the end of the day, it is upto you to buy from a reputable buyer. Always check the seller feedback score before buying in the future and if something looks to good to be true, then it probably is.
