Can a learner drive with a different driver than the one on whose policy he is named on?

My son is a named driver on my insurance with the AA, is he covered if he drives with a friend who has insurance?

If he is named on your policy, he can learn to drive with anyone who has held a full UK driving licence for at least 3 years and who is 21 or over. The person does not necessarily need to be insured unless he plans on driving as well. So anyone can really teach your son to drive as long as they fulfill the requirements described above.
