Can I be the main policy holder of a car that I am not the registered keeper of?

Can I be the main policy holder of a car that I am not the registered keeper of? I will be having the car at my house and will be the main driver of it.

You can but it seems that many insurance companies will refuse to quote you nowadays if the registered keeper is not the policyholder. There's no current law to enforce this rule but insurers have taken it upon themselves to make sure that the main driver is the policy holder to ensure fraud is not being committed on the part of the applicant.
