Collingwood Learner Driver Insurance

I have a mini Cooper of English make which is insured and registered in Germany. Can I get a learners insurance on that car even though it is not registered in the UK?

Freya,

Are you looking to learn how to drive in your car with a learner's insurance? There'a a time limit on foreign cars after which you need to register it in the UK if you wish to keep on driving the vehicle. I think it's 6 months. So how long have you been in the UK for and what's the reason for doing this?

Thanks for the answer. Ok, in that case the car was MOTed in Germany last year. It is registered in Germany as I am from Germany and it is in my dad's name who lives there. I guess the answer is that I have to register it in the UK before I can get a learners insurance - correct?

I would think so. However you may be able to get insurance cover at a higher cost though. The only way to know is by contacting either a car insurance broker or requesting a quote from the following companies:

Direct Line Car Insurance - Contract for a year but will insure provisional drivers
Collingwood Learner Driver Insurance - Offers short term insurance for learners

Let me know how that goes.
