Can I insure a car before I get a licence?

Is it possible for me to insure a car before I get my driving licence?

You cannot insure a car in your name if you do not have a driving licence. You do not need to possess a full driving licence but you should at least have a provisional licence before you can be covered for insurance purposes.

This is specific to the UK and other countries may have different laws and regulations however.
