Cannot tax car because post offices are closed till 4th January 2011

My car tax expired on the 31st December 2010 due to it being Christmas all post offices are closed till the 4th January. So does this mean I have to wait till then or can I drive my car till I renew it on the 4th?

If your car is not taxed, you cannot drive it as that would be illegal. It is your responsibility to renew your road tax well in advance and reminders are sent 1 month before your tax is due to expire for that matter. Therefore you will have to wait until you have properly taxed your car before you can drive it, otherwise you might be fined for driving without road tax.
