Car Headrests

Can someone tell me if it's illegal to drive a car in the UK without headrests?

Ann,

Headrests are not compulsory in the UK. However it is advisable to have them in your car because they reduce neck injuries. Whiplash which is caused by a strong sudden backward movement of the head can be prevented with proper adjustment of the headrest in your car.

If you plan on adding a headrest to your car seat, then you need to know that it needs to meet certain requirements for safety reasons.
