Cheap car insurance for 17 year old driver

Hi

I'm 17 years old and I have a vauxhall corsa 1.2 sxi. I want to be named as the second driver because me and my dad will be using the car. All the insurances I am checking are giving me silly price round about £2500-£3000 and the car's not even worth that much.

Tayib,

It is quite common to see car insurance for 17 year old drivers to be ridiculously expensive. It is even worse this year because premiums are rising by 13% and that's going to add several hundreds pounds to young drivers car insurance. If you haven't done the pass plus course, I suggest you do it because there are now more insurers which accept this certification and are willing to give drivers upto 40% discount for doing this course. A car insurance comparison site will give you quotes from a lot of insurers but they don't check each and every single insurer which means you might be missing out on some insurance companies. Therefore it is important that you get quotes from the ones who you haven't.

I'd also suggest that you take a policy with an insurance companies which is going to recognise your no claims as a named driver so that when you decide to get your own policy, you don't end up starting back to square one.
