Does insurance go up when you have passed your test?

I have been insured on my provisional licence. Will I pay more when I pass my driving test?

Paisley,

Most of the time your premiums go up when you pass your driving test and sometimes it stays the same. The reason for this is because as a driver learning on a provisional licence, you are being supervised when you are in the car and not on your own. This reduced the possibilities of accidents as guidance is available to you. However when you finally get your full driving licence, you are able to drive on your own and 99% of the time, you will. However to insurance companies you are more of a risk because of lack of driving experience and therefore they will increase the premiums when you tell them you have finally pass your test.
