Driving in the UK as a UK citizen resident in France

I have a French driving licence. These do not expire in France at age 70. The question however is 'Can I use this licence to drive in the UK? Or do I need a valid medical certificate to certify that I am fit to drive, and would such a certificate from my French medical practitioner be valid?
