DVLA examination to get licence back

Hi

I have to go for a DVLA examination to get my licence back. I won't have touched a drink for 6 weeks prior to this. Do the DVLA contact your own GP as this is worrying me as I have misused alchol in the past and this would be on my medical records. I hardly touch a drink now as I know the problems it can bring ie losing license.

Sean,

DVLA will surely contact your GP for medical reasons. If you had alcohol problems in the past, this will be taken into consideration. However if your GP feels that you are now more in control, then he will inform the DVLA accordingly.

You can find more information on getting your licence back after a ban here.

I got banned for a 1 year following a drink drive charge. I was driving on full insurance and the named driver of a disability car at the time. When can I get insured again by the d.v.l.a?

Diane,

You can get insured when you driving ban is over and your licence returned to you.
