How long must I have a licence for to teach someone to drive?

How long do I have to have a full UK driving licence before I can supervise a provisional holder to drive? I am 23 years old.

Mike,

There are two requirements to meet before you can teach somebody else to drive. The first one is that you must be over 21 which is not going to be a problem for you because you are 23 years old. The second one is that you must have had your full UK driving licence for at least 3 years and still hold the licence.

You cannnot collect money from the person you'll be teaching by the way (unless you're an approved driving instructor (ADI)) and you also cannnot supervise someone driving a van when you only have a car licence.
