How to reduce a 5 year driving ban?

Hi,

I've had 2 convictions of drinking and driving which both amount to 5 years, I have served 2 years, is there any way I can get the ban reduced?

Claire,

If you have not committed any driving convictions since you had your driving ban, it will help in the appealing process. What you will have to do is contact the court which imposed the driving ban on you to request your licence back. However you can only do that after you've served 2.5 years of your ban. This is because for driving bans between 4-10 years, you need to have served at least half of the ban before you can ask for your licence back.

So wait another 6 months before you seek your licence from the court. Since this is an appeal, you will have to pay court fees etc and will need to have valid reasons to ask for the ban to be removed, otherwise your application will be rejected and you will waste money.
