For drivers with just a provisional licence, the options for car insurance are limited. You wouldn't be able to get temporary insurance for him with your current insurer. However, you can buy
learner drivers car insurance for him but that has to be at least 4 weeks long. After that period of time, you can renew the cover on a weekly basis.
