Monthly learner insurance with provisional license

Okay, so I've just got my provisional driving license and my mum wanted to insure me on her car but we've hit a problem - her insurance policy will not add me on as they do not insure provisional drivers! Can I get my own monthly insurance with a different provider to the same car?

Please help, Thanks

Anna,

Most insurers do not like the idea of insuring learner drivers and that's the sad truth. However there's still hope as you can get a special car insurance for learner drivers which will give you exactly what you want. You will be insured to learn driving in your mum's car and the policy will be held in your name which means that you will not be a danger to your mum's no claims bonus. The only thing worth noting is that you will need to be accompanied at all times by someone over 21 and who has held a full driving licence for over 3 years. Initially you'll have to get a month's cover but after the first month you can renew on a weekly basis which costs around £26.50 a week. The company which will do that is Collingwood.
