Registered keeper for car insurance?

Do I have to be the registered keeper to insure a car? Son buying car, myself, my wife and him driving. I'll be main driver.

Nick,

Nowadays most insurance companies want the policyholder (main driver) to be the registered keeper. However there are still a few which will accept that the main driver is not the keeper of the vehicle.

Your son can buy the car and have it legally under his name and therefore become the legal owner and you can be the registered keeper to have things simple and open more choices for yourself and your family.
