Registered keeper sold car which I own, what should I do?

Your ex must have sold your car by filling out the registration certificate (V5) to transfer the ownership. This is a problem that car owners face when they are not the registered keeper. However this is not to say that it should be permitted. The good thing is that you have all the proof to show that you are the actual legal owner and nobody is allowed to sell the car besides you. I have the exact same problem let me know how you get on. I'm in a difficult position as he sold it now to someone else. I've just been with police tonight to see the new owner who won't hand over vehicle so in hands my solicitor but she is hopefull it will all turn out in my favour.

Why are you calling the new KEEPER the new owner when clearly you are the owner. the police should have acted on your proof of owner ship but i can understand why they have not as it's a can of worms, seek help from a lawyer, sue the back side of the person who sold a vehicle that did not belong to them, then get new keeper in court to hand over the car and they too can sue the guy who sold them the car for full costs to be rembursed. To me it's a clear case. Any decent lawyer can do this and you won't end up paying anything.
