Weekend insurance for the year

Hi

I wonder if you can help me. I'm thinking of buying a new car but don't want to pay the cost of full insurance when the car sits there Monday to Thursday. I only need car insurance for the car from Friday to Sunday night, so I'm just interested if you have any ideas and if it's possible?

Many thanks,
Ben.

Ben,

Although it makes sense what you're saying and it would be silly to pay for a service when you're not using it, weekend insurance on a continual basis is not available anywhere in the UK at the moment. Maybe in the future, we could see such a product but for the time, there's no such thing. There used to be a pay as you go insurance policy which would have suited your needs because you would only pay when you use your car but unfortunately that has been taken off the market now. All I can say is go for a full year's insurance policy but put the minimum number of miles you'll be doing (because you'll be driving only weekends) a year which will consequently reduce your quote.
