Worn out clutch

I'm a driving instructor with 2 year old fiesta, the clutch has been fine until on test a girl did a hill start with handbrake still on slightly, and the clutch smelt in the car, since then only when moving off in 1st the car vibrates, will the plates just be scorched and sort itself out or is it time for a new clutch??? thanks tim

Tim,

Give it a few more days and if it doesn't sort itself out, then you would have to change them. Learners usually wears the clutch a lot because of their lack of understanding of how the clutch works. They either are pressing it unnecessarily for a prolonged period or are pressing/releasing it too often when there's no need to.
